Laughing with Logan

Unfortunately, this episode will be brief because I don't live with The Professor anymore, but I found the following in an old notebook:

Ice cream is the very core of your comfort zone. (Talking to me, of course.)

I just need a hug at this time of denial in my life. I'm in a midlife crisis.

I don't control when I say funny stuff-- when it pops into my head I have to say it then cuz if I don't it will be wost in de deps of my mind fo-ev-oh. (In his little boy voice.)

I could be famous

This is random, but I think it's funny so I'll share it. A few days ago at the Museum of Art where I work the other guard started telling me about her film class. She said they watched a silent movie called The Kid Brother (1927, FYI) and I totally reminded her of the lead actress. So I looked her up on Wikipedia. Her name's Jobyna Ralston. Looks just like me, huh?

Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband

My friend Sherra and I went to hear Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband live in the Wilkinson Center last night. We're talking two hours of seriously high-quality entertainment--high-speed microphone and instrument switching, banjo and fiddle duels, and an audience sing-along (not to mention the way cute brothers in the band that played before them.) It was so much fun!

The latest album.

The band.

The guitarist posing with Kermit because they do a Kermit song, "The Rainbow Connection."

Craig, the Banjo Boy, for whom I have a special affection.

If you want to see a couple of cute music videos, check out the website: www.shupe.net. Thanks to Robby and Roo for enlightening me about that and to Andra for introducing me to the band. :)

Molly Moo and Eli, too

Logan gets an honorable mention in this post even though he's not in the title.

Mmmm...Pocky! (This reminds me of the cereal box instructions: Open mouth. Insert box. Chew and repeat.)

Dad's birthday

Dad's big 60th birthday celebration the day I came home was a pretty fun way to end finals week. I was the designated photographer and Dad kept telling me to take more pictures.

Beautiful cake.

The classic Dad eyes-closed picture.

The classic head tilt.

Trying to blow it out with his nose.

New pants!

New England apples!

Dad's gift. Nice job, Wendy.

Writing on the Wall

Back in September my RA, Brianna, decided we needed to have a floor theme, and chose "For Good" which apparently is something from the musical Wicked. She made big construction paper letters that spelled it out and put them in the floor lounge. Since then, various members of the hall have taken the liberty of rearranging them when Brianna's wasn't around. (Eventually she gave up trying to fix them.) The latest endeavor by my friend Candice and me, taking a break from studying for finals:

My personal favorite.

Christmas in January

After discovering that I must have left my USB cord at home, and that Kristin's computer has a memory card slot that makes it much easier to upload pictures, I'm finally back on the blogging map!

Our little Christmas tree (a Walmart special). It was fun to string the popcorn--we did that while we watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. We also got blue and white lights. Go Cougars!

Back in October, each room in my hall decorated a door. This is ours. Isn't it adorable? When we took it down to put up wrapping paper we didn't want to throw it away so it got relocated to the closet doors.

My friend Natalie's birthday was Dec. 19th, same as Wendy's, and she wanted a Lunchable, so I happily obliged. I don't know why I took a picture of it, besides I was feeling goofy that night. We had a party in the basement that ended with an impromptu haircut for Natalie.

The adorable gingerbread house Logan and I made over the break from the kit that had been sitting in the pantry for about 4 years. The gingerbread man got whitewashed thanks to Logan.

A bird's-eye view of the lovely gumdrop roof.
